Is there a way to make flower POTS rust faster?
We're often asked about the best way to rust a Corten Steel Planter, or what can be done to make a pot rust faster. Our weather-proof steel flower POTS are rusty, and if you leave them outside for a few weeks and let nature take its course, they will start to show signs of rust.
If you don't want to wait a few weeks, wash the planter with warm water and soap when you first receive it. This will remove any remaining oil, and the water will react with the metal, triggering oxidation (rust). Periodic water mist speeds up the oxidation process, especially in dry climates.
Spray vinegar on a flowerpot and it will rust within minutes. However, this rust will wash away, so the next time it rains, your rust will be gone. The drill really only takes a few months, vinegar or no vinegar, to acquire a natural layer of rust and seal.
